Short facts about the airport

  • Early 2004 we became the 4th largest Swedish airport. Passenger figures for 2004 were 1 347 000. 2007 we reached almost 2 million passengers and the position of 3rd largerst airport in Sweden. The passenger figure for 2008 was 2 479 887.
  • 27% of Sweden's population, 2.4 million, live within Stockholm Skavsta's catchment area (a 100 km radius).
  • Stockholm Skavsta obtained its first international scheduled route in 1997 when Ryanair established traffic Stockholm Skavsta - London Stansted.
  • With the Scandinavian base Ryanair opened six new routes April 2003. In October 2007 Ryanair increased the base with 2 new aircraft and has today 6 based aircraft and operates 38 routes from Stockholm Skavsta.
  • Other airlines/routes: Wizz Air - Katowice (Crakow), Warsaw, Gdansk, Poznan and Budapest; Gotlandsflyg - Visby, Gotland; Fritidsresor (TUI) -  Cyprus, Bulgaria, Turkey and Tunisia (Summer 2010); Gran Canaria (Winter 2009/2010), Ving / My Travel - Gran Canaria (Winter 2009/2010).
  • More than 1 300 persons have their daily work within the airport/business park.
  • Approx. 40 companies are established within the business park today.
  • The airport was once a military airfield (F11). The airfield was the center of Swedish surveillance flights, but was closed 1980.
  • TBI own and manage eight airports; amongst others Cardiff Int., Belfast Int., Orlando Sanford Int. (USA), London Luton Airport and Stockholm Skavsta Airport. Early 2005 TBI was acquired by the Spanish ACDL group.
  • Nyköping Municipality still has a 9.9 % owner share - even after TBI being acquired by Spanish ACDL in January 2005.
