Wizz Air opens Vilnius from Stockholm Skavsta Airport
On Saturday 24 October, Wizz Air, one of Europe’s fastest growing airlines, opened the route to Vilnius in Lithuania from Stockholm Skavsta Airport. The route was previously operated by Wizz Air from September 2015 until March 2019. The Vilnius-Stockholm Skavsta route will be operated on Saturdays, and from December 2020 with three departures per week.
-“We are very pleased that Wizz Air, awarded as the airline of the Year by Air Transport World (ATW), in partnership with Stockholm Skavsta Airport chose to open the Vilnius route. Stockholm Skavsta is the airport in the Stockholm region increasing the number of new destinations, contrary to many other airports experiencing a decrease in the number of new destinations”, says Cédric Fechter, CEO Stockholm Skavsta Airport.
Stockholm Skavsta Airports, powered by VINCI Airports, was the only Swedish airport to have had a positive passenger development in 2019, handling 2.3 million passengers which was +3.8% for the full year. Before the Covid-19 outbreak, the growth in January and February 2020 was +11.6%.
This new route reinforces the partnership between VINCI Airports and Wizz Air, which already has activities in 8 airports of the VINCI Airports network, including a base recently opened at London Gatwick.
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Stockholm Skavsta Airport and Wizz Air are proud to continue developing the airport route network, providing possibilities for families to meet travelling in a safe and secure way as well as sustaining work related travel between the countries. All news
